Mission & Purpose

Fragile Wings Fierce Hearts was founded with a simple but powerful belief: we can make a difference in the lives of those living with Epidermolysis Bullosa (EB) and we will strive to find a cure. What began as a quiet dream shared by an EB mom among friends has grown into a mission driven movement united by compassion, determination, and hope. Today, Fragile Wings Fierce Hearts brings together families, friends, partners, and supporters who are committed to funding critical research and standing alongside the EB community. Every dollar raised through Fragile Wings Fierce Hearts is donated directly to EB Research Partnership (EBRP), the leading organization accelerating treatments and driving progress toward a cure.

Last year, a sold-out Fragile Wings Fierce Hearts: A Night for EB Gala brought together an incredible community and raised over $155,000 for EB research, with 100% of proceeds going directly toward advancing critical breakthroughs.

The Story You're Amplifying

Fragile Wings Fierce Hearts Co-Founder and Mackenzie's Mom, Mary Steck, and Event Director, Ann Knapp, recently sat down with TMJ4 to share the story behind the event and raise awareness for EB.

“It’s about creating an evening of hope, driving more awareness and educating people about what EB is, but also creating money to find better treatments and hopefully one day a cure,” Ann said.

For Mary, her daughter’s future remains uncertain but hopes she wants for Mackenzie is simple. “I hope she’s happy, and I hope that she knows that I am fighting for her and that I love her,” Mary said. “I hope she feels the tangible support and love that everyone in the community has for her.”
